About

Australian reader, writer, editor.

Hi, I'm Jess.

I help middle grade and young adult authors lift their manuscripts up to the next level - whether that's querying agents, submitting to publishers or self-publishing.

Why trust me with your words?

I bring together formal editing training, experience inside publishing houses and a lifelong love of kidlit. That means I read it for fun, I know where your book sits in the market and I’m up to date with what’s happening in Australian publishing.

  • Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing (RMIT University), including specialist courses in writing and editing for children

  • Editorial internship in Penguin’s Young Readers division (Melbourne) – my dream job! Learnt so much and adored my time here.

  • Professional Member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) – this means my skills and experience have been vetted by Australia’s professional industry body for editors.

More than an editor

I'm also a writer, which means I understand how scary it can feel to share your work. My goal is to provide thoughtful, honest feedback that strengthens your manuscript while preserving your voice.

I believe editing should feel collaborative, not intimidating. It should give you energy, not sap it. I’m on your team and I want the best for your story.

Outside of books...

I live in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales with my family. When I'm not reading or editing, you'll find me chasing waves, practising yoga or going on magical adventures with my two little people.

If that sounds like your kind of vibe, I'd love to hear about your story.
